Conquering Faults

"Watch and pray dear, never getting tired of trying, and never think it is impossible to conquer your faults."
- Louise May Alcott.

I saw these words on Instagram the other day and instantly they spoke to my heart.
"...and never think it is impossible to conquer your faults."
I know I am not the only one who knows has a list of her faults running through her mind.
As humans, and more so as women,
I know we are so good at seeing the things we don't like in ourselves.
Media has made it even easier to do, but I think it's just part of our nature, as well.

Maybe your list looks something like mine.
I'm not a good mother.
I'm a horrible wife.
I could be a better friend.
I'm too negative.
I nag too much.
I need to be better with money.
My body looks horrible. I am so fat!
I shouldn't be so depressed.
On and on it goes really.

These things though, they don't have to be forever and always.
At least I don't believe so.
I believe that so many things can be conquered just by trying.
And if they aren't, try again and again and again.

I'm not super mom, but I'm not the worst mother in the world.
There are things I can do to be a better wife, like not nag.  Ha.
I can aim to keep up with my friends better.
I can look at the positive and not dwell on things that cause me to be depressed.
I can work on budgeting and spending.
And I can lose weight by eating better and working out!

These things, they may not change over night,
but I have faith that little by little, day by day, they can.
When I think that things are impossible, then I set myself up for them to be,
but when I take the positive approach and think that I can accomplish something,
I'm that much closer to conquering so much!

Do you struggle with this?
Feeling like you aren't good enough?
That you can't do anything right?
That you can't conquer your faults?

P.S. Isn't that tree in our yard just beautiful? Makes me smile!

Linking up with a fresh start on a budget.

  1. I just wrote a post about overcoming self doubt and remembering what I'm capable of doing and being and accomplishing. I think it's really easy to get caught up in our faults and shortcomings. But the real strength is having the courage to be better versions of ourselves with each day. We're not going to amazing at everything, but we can certainly work harder at those areas where we feel we could use improvement. I think it's important to face our faults and muster up the courage to conquer them. There is beauty in the struggle :)
