My Sin

I have a list of them and I'm sure there's more to be added.
The one I want to share with you today, is one that I've been wanting to write about.
But I've been scared to put it out there because it's something I'm upset with myself for doing.
I judge other moms.
I know it's wrong and I don't want to do it.
It hurts my stomach to think about.

Often I find myself thinking, "I can't believe she is doing that!"
Or, "she should really do it that way!"
Or, "That is not going to work! What is she thinking?"
In someway I've bought into the lie that I do things better.
I've let my heart believe it, even though deep down I know that is so wrong and untrue!

I am nowhere near the perfect mother.
I still have flash backs to things I did wrong with Braden.
I'm sure people thought I was crazy because I didn't know what I was doing with my first baby!
I still don't really know what I'm doing.
I'm just living life, loving my babies, and hoping that I don't mess them up too badly! ;)
More than that I'm trusting that Jesus will take care of them better than me!

And I'm working on this judgement thing because I hate mommy guilt!
I hate beating myself up with it and I never want any other mama to feel it from me!
I'm telling the devil that is a lie I will not believe because I have no right to judge!
But mostly because us mamas, we all need a little help and a lot of Jesus!

  1. Oh sweet friend, I believe we are at least a little guilty of this! I have two sister-in-laws (my husband's sister and my brother's wife) who do things completely different from us. Timelines of when we each think things are appropriate are off, how we do things, what we feel is acceptable, what we feel isn't. I get where you are coming from. I'm guilty of hearing what one of them does and go into a "are you kidding me??" mode in my head. I recently found out from my in-laws that my SIL doesn't agree with things we do that I mentioned in my blog post previously. And honestly, in that I realized - every parent does something different based on what works for them and their kiddos. As long as the hubby and I keep doing what we feel is best for our daughter, that's all that matter - no one else has to agree and we certainly don't have to agree with other people's parenting.

    1. It is so easy to do isn't it?
Sometimes I feel like its easier for me to do, especially if I feel judged by other mamas.
It's like, well, they judge so why can't I? Totally wrong attitude!
My attitude needs a lot of adjusting lately!

  2. I love this post! I try my hardest to not judge other moms because I struggled when Wyatt was first born. I still have those thoughts of doubt in myself when it comes to being a mother. Sometimes I feel as if I'm going to let Wyatt down and feel as if I'm not meant to be a mother and then 20 minutes later I'm overwhelmed with how much joy and love that little guy can give me. I feel like you just need to put yourself in others shoes and not judge a book by its cover. (: Thanks for writing this post!

    1. Oh girl! I'm right there with you.... I struggle sometimes with being a mama and how hard it can be! I catch myself thinking that other mamas have it all together and do everything right! No other mama is as bad as me at this...or that! Horrible thoughts to have! Thanks for your thoughts! =)

  3. You are so not alone! I'm a big judger and it hurts my heart to say that. And yet I'm super defensive when other moms judge me. It's something I struggle with everyday and its a daily prayer for me.

  4. You are NOT alone! :) Seriously. And I have been writing about Jill Savage's new book all WEEK but it touches on this SO well. Great read.
