Books I've loved through the years

I love to read. Its always been a favorite of mine. I love to get caught up in someones else's life...someones else's story. I remember when I was in first grade and was so excited to go to school because it was library day. I was so sick that day, but kept on telling my mom I was okay. She made me stay home after my billionth trip to the bathroom. I was so sad, but at the end of the day I was happy again because my teacher had sent some books home for me! 

For today I'm going to share some of my favorite books over the years! I could list so many, but I will just give you a few. 

Green Eggs and Ham. This was one of those books that I checked out from the school library over and over again. I just found it fun! What child didn't love rhymes and funny things?

Are You There God? It's Me Margaret. Oh, Judy Blume... isn't she great? I remember reading this for the first time in elementary school and its one I've come back to time and time again. I read it a few years ago again. Its something that young girls can relate to - wanting to grow up fast, wanting to be popular, and wondering about God. I loved being able to relate to Margaret. Its a book I will keep in my collection and pass onto my teenage daughter (hopefully I have a girl sometime)!

Diary of a Teenage Girls Series. There are many diary of a teenage girl series introducing different girls, but I read the series about Caitlin.  I started reading this series when I was in high school and have read the series at least 5 times. Its one of my favorite because its so real! Its written as if Caitlin was writing in her own diary, which being someone who loves to journal, I just loved this! She writes about her relationship with God in all areas of her life - school, friends, family, and relationships with boys. I could relate very much and I know these are books I will hold onto! 

The Redemption Series. Who doesn't love Karen Kingsbury. I've read this series multiple times as well and EVERY TIME I cry. They too, are so real. They pulled out every emotion in me. They are written so well and once again I could relate to so many of the characters. I am always so impressed with how well she writes. I hope one day I can write as well as she. Doubtful, but I can hope! If you haven't read these, go, NOW! =)

The Pact. I've read this a few times. It was one of those books that kept me up until 4am. I love Jodi Picoult. I love how she writes from different views of different people. Her books are just about things that really happen in life... things that are all around us, that maybe we don't see. The emotion in her books is so real. I've read most of her books and am never disappointed!

Firefly Lane. This was the first book I read by Kristin Hannah and it lead me to read many more of her books! This was caused me many tears because of how much I could relate. The story is about two best friends and the ups and downs in their relationship. They struggled so much with each other. I think part of it was that they cared for one another so deeply - they were like sisters. Sometimes its hard caring so much because you want to protect and at times that can come across as bossiness (sometimes it is) and tearing them down when you don't agree with choices they've made. It was a good, but hard read because it reminded me of my best friend and I's relationship in college. Thankfully, by the grace of God, just like the best friends in this book, my friend from college and I have reconciled. God is good.

I could go on and on about books I love. I wish I'd kept a journal of books I've read because I know there are some I cannot remember the titles or whom they were by, only what they were about. Maybe its something I need to start doing!
