It's the little things: A package, nail polish, and my favorite author

I feel like I haven't linked up with Lindsay over at Aisle to Aloha for the little things that brighten my week in a while! Sometimes weeks feel long and hard, but there still there are good things!

This week my little things were...

A package from this lady. It was a nice surprise!
New scented nail polish: beach, orange pop, and cherry.
This nail polish goes on so smoothly!
Reading a book by Karen Kingsbury. She's my favorite!
Its so hard for me to put her books down!

What are the little things that made your week bright?
Happy Friday!

A book review: Unlocked

One of my goals has been to read more. I haven't been that great at it, but this past week I borrowed this book from a friend and loved it! I thought, since its one of my goals, I'd write a book review on it.

Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors. I've yet to read a book by her that I haven't liked and I doubt it will ever happen. Her words just draw you in and you can't put the book down! Unlocked is a story of two friends, Holden and Ella, who lost their friendship when they were little. They were best friends, but when Holden all of a sudden got autism, Ella's parents couldn't handle it and stopped their friendship with the family.

Years later, Ella and Holden reunite all because of a school play. Holden is drawn to music... the one thing that makes him happy. Well, that and Ella. The music not only brings Holden a bit out of himself, but it brings friendship back into the lives of two families.

I loved this book. It made me smile and cry. One of my favorite things about Karen Kingsbury is how she writes about faith. I love how her characters depend on God and hear Him speaking to them.
I wish I could hear God the way the characters seem to... like He's right there!  Karen Kingsbury is no doubt my favorite author and I promise if you pick up one of her books, you'll love her too!

Now, I'm off to read another book of hers! =)

If I had a day to play...

Picture taken by husband.

I'm linking up with Gussy Sews today for inspiration workshop week 4! The prompt for this week was "a day to play." What would you do if you had a whole day to play?
If I had a day just to myself I'd grab a bag of books and go the park to read under a tree.
Here are some of the books I'm wanting to read:

This is the second book in the Hunger Games series. I am actually reading it right now, but I would love a day to finish it. I know that its a book geared towards young adults, but its pretty intense and just really well written. This series sucked me in from the beginning. I wish I could explain what its about, but theres so much to it, that you should just check it out yourself.

I'm a huge fan of Karen Kingsbury. I have never been disappointed when reading her books! The first series I read of hers was the Redemption series and I've read them all at least three times! Every time they bring me to tears. I love how she develops characters and writes about their faith. They are always relatable in some way and how she writes about God is just so amazing. These are two of her most recent books and I cannot wait to read them!

I'd also take my camera to the park with me because I'd love to have a day with just my camera and me.
