Talking with a toddler

I have two talking toddlers now. Here are some things they've been saying!
Enjoy, if that's your sort of thing! ;)

Mom: "Braden, you need to stop being so bossy. It's not nice."
Braden: "You don't say that mom!"

As I was nursing Sutton in the car
Braden: "I want to see baby Sutton."
Mom: Shows him.
Braden: "I want to hold baby Sutton."
Mom: "You can't hold her in the car."
Braden: Gets upset.
He sure loves her!

As were driving in the car
Braden: "Mom, baby Sutton is cute!"
Mom: "Oh, she is?"
Braden: "Yes, baby Sutton is cute!"

At a different time...
Braden: "Baby Sutton is cute! Maeva is cute!"
Mom: "Oh yeah. Is Braden cute?"
Braden: "Yes, Braden is cute. Mom is cute! Dad is cute!"

A bit before nap time.
Braden: "Mom, I'm ready for nap time."
Goes into his room and shuts the door, to play with his trains.
Nap time = alone time for him to play with his trains.

A different time, where he goes in his room to play with toys.
Braden: Shuts the door.
Mom: Walks in. "What are you doing?"
Braden: "Get out!"
Mom: "Braden you don't say that to mom.
That's not nice. You say, Mom, I want some alone time please."
Braden: "Alone time please."

Later...
Mom: Knocks on the door. "Can I come in?"
Braden: "No!"
Mom: "Too bad, I'm coming in."
Ha.

While allowing him to have the iPad for 30 mins,
and giving him warnings about how much time he has left.
Mom: "Okay Braden you have 10 minutes left."
Braden: "Okay mom."
Mom: "Braden you have 5 minutes left."
Braden: "Okay mom."
Mom: "Braden you have 3 minutes left."
Braden: "Just take it away mom!"

While playing with Maeva
Braden: "I love you Mae! Give me a kiss Mae! Come see me Mae!"
Pretty much a run on sentence about how much he loves his sister!

As baby Sutton starts crying.
Braden: "Oh! Go get her!"
Mom: "Okay, I will."
Braden: "I want to see her. Can I see her?"
Mom: "Sure. Come on."
Braden: Sees her. "I want to hold her!"
Mom: "Okay, but you have to sit down to hold her."
Braden: Sits down and holds his hands up like he going to catch a tiny ball.
Mom: Places Sutton in his lap
Braden: "Hi baby Sutton." Puts his lips close to her ear and starts shhhhing her. :)

As Maeva is screaming her head off in the car
Braden: Turns to her and asks, "Why Mae? Why?"
I second the question! That girl has some lungs!

When seeing some play sets as we were driving in the car
Braden: "Look at all those slides!"
Mom: "I see them. They are nice."
Braden: "Mommy, daddies going to build a play set for YOU!"
Mom: "No, he's going to build it for you."
Braden: "Yes, he's going to build the play set for YOU!"

Mae is starting to talk a lot as well. I didn't expect her to be talking as much.
She's definitely talking a lot more than Braden was at her age,
but she's learning from him!

Mom: "Do you want a spanking?"
Mae: Looks at me, all cute, "No."

As I was putting her in her crib the other night
Mae: "I want dada."
And she does, every single night... he has to kiss her goodnight or she screams until he does.

Mom: "Do you want to take a bath?"
Mae: "No."

As we are going through the drive-thru at Starbucks
Mom: Placing order and saying thank you after I order.
Mae: "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."
It's about the cutest thing ever.

I'm sure she's saying more, but I need to keep better track of her words and sentences.
I love watching toddlers grow, learn to talk, and say funny things!
I can't help but smile, except at the word "no" of course!

Talking with a toddler

When he is wanting food or a drink:
Braden: "What you want mommy? You want a granola bar?"
Mom:"Do YOU want a granola bar?"

"I want to play sis."
"That's my sis."
He loves her so much.

Braden: "She wants peanut butter and jelly."
              "She wants juice."
              "She wants to see daddy."
When really he means that he wants those things. Thinks he's pulling one on me!

When potty training
"Yay! I went in the potty, I can get up!"
"Yay! I went in the potty! Good job!"

Mom: "Braden, I'm not happy that you had an accident."
Braden: "You freaking out!"

On the way to the OB
Braden: "Want to watch a Christmas movie."
Mom: "Maybe later. We're going to the doctor right now."
Braden: "Going to the doctor?"
Mom: "Yes, to talk about your baby sister."
Braden: "No."
Mom: "Yes, you're going to have a new baby sister soon."
Braden: "No."

Whenever he wants something.
"Mommy, I need a snack."
"Mommy, I need to watch power trains."
Cracks me up!

When I tell him it's nap time (quiet time for him) he responds by saying
"Okay Mommy, I play with toys."
Some times he even walks in his room and closes the door.
So much better than the screaming/crying/kicking her used to do!

At night when putting him to bed and saying goodnight, he says
"Okay Mommy, goodbye."

It's fun having a talking toddler most of the time except when he starts telling me "no no no"

31 days {talking with a toddler}

One of the best things about toddlerhood is the funny things they say!
Here are some of Braden's most recents funny thoughts!

Comes out of our rooms, hands up in the air, "I'm freaking nuts!"
And recently, "Mae, you're freaking nuts!"
I'm working on him with this, telling him no one is nuts and its not nice.

Sitting at the kitchen table, while looking at me:
"I'm not happy!"
He totally got that from me when I disciplined him.

Whenever it is dark outside: "It's dark in there."

"Go outside?"
"Okay, what are you going to do outside?"
"I'm gonna look at grasshoppers!"

His nighttime prayer, that usually goes something like this:
"Dear Jesus, Thank You for today.
Thank You for Mom. Thank You for Dad.
Thank You for Sis. Thank You for Grandma. Amen."

Dad: "Braden you're funny!"
Braden: "I not!"
Mom: "You're a little stinker!"
Braden: "No, I not!"

After spilling some milk on the table:
"Oh no, oh no.... I spilled milk. Want to clean it!"
And then he got some peanut butter on his hands...
"Dirty hands. Wipe it off!"

Whenever I give him a granola bar:
"See chocolate. You see the chocolate?"
Kid is obsessed with chocolate, but I get it.

His sister is being fussy and screaming loudly:
"Sis is mad!"

When we got through the drive-thru at Starbucks Braden says, "COFFEE!"
He can also say "Starbucks!" which is super cute, but I feel bad that he knows that word! ;)

And for fun, here's a video.

Talking with a toddler

Dad: "I want to take your picture in your new pjs from grandma."
Braden: "Okay, I stand against the wall."
Because, I always try to get him to stand against the wall when I want a picture.

Mom: "Come here Maeva."
Braden: Points at his sister, "Go to mom sis!"
Really, he just likes to boss his sister.

After I hear Braden dump my bottle of water into the bath water
Mom: "Braden, seriously?"
Braden: "Braden, seriously?"

Going to get Maeva out of the tub
Mom: Claps hands, reaches towards Maeva saying, "Come here Maeva!"
Braden: Claps hands, reaches dramatically towards his sister, "Come here Mae!"

Any time he thinks something is wrong or broken
"Oh no oh no oh no!"

Whenever he has a bug bite he will come up to me and say, "Itch it mom!"
He's had many on his bottom... "Itch the butt mom!"
I seriously can't even type that without laughing.

James likes to teach Braden to say things. So far he's taught him:
"Don't tase me bro!"
 "I'm OCD!"
And "What does Braden say?...I'm cool!"
Makes me smile because the kid just has no idea what he's even talking about!

"What's grandpa say?....CAKE!" Because grandpa has brought us cake many times!

"What's this?" all the time.

Braden got really excited as he saw Maeva climb the stairs for the first time.
While laughing... "Look at you! Look at you!"
Totally sounded like an old person.

I just love my talking boy. Makes me laugh every. single. day.
