Sunday Shoes

Necklace: Sea glass from Hawaii. Cardigan: Kohls. Tee: Target. Under tank: Forever21. Shorts: Old Navy. Shoes: Express.

The 21 day challenge is almost over! One more day.
Todays prompt was to wear "Sunday" shoes, such as shoes you'd wear to church or wouldn't normally wear on a weekday. Shoes that are a bit more special, I guess.
I chose to wear my sequins flats because I just love them.
They are sparkly, cute, and comfortable.
Is there anything better?

Statement jewelry and dressing up your hair

Husbands having a heck of a time at work the past few days.
Its hard and stressful.
The days are long and people are rude.
Not to mention its hot out and that just adds more of a dislike to his job.
I hate that... I hate that my husband has such a hard time. =(
If you feel like praying please do...

I say all that because he hasn't been able to take my pictures the last few days because he gets home so late (okay, thats not the only reason I said it...works hard on him and thats hard on me and we'd really appreciate the prayers), therefore, I've taken my own pictures.

Here you go:
Yesterdays prompt was statement jewelry.
Necklace/earrings: Charming Charlie.
Striped tee (that is being throw away because it has a hole =(): Target.
White tank: Old Navy.

Todays prompt is to wear something on your head.
Scarf and cardigan: Target.
Pink top (my remix item) Kohls.

And now I need to take care of a baby who is crying for me to hold him...
and maybe I'll get to lie down because I am not feeling well at all.

Come on Fall, you'll make me feel better!

Repair it.

Jacket: Thrifted. Top: Forever21. Shorts: Old Navy. Wedges: Target.

So, this top, I love, however, its a really sensitive material. If it gets caught on anything it snags.
It happened, therefore, it needed fixing. Good thing it has layers and is long.
I really like this outfit, but it was so hot outside, so I think it'd be a better fall outfit with a pair of jeans.  Sorry you have to see these shorts again, but they are my favorite, plus they are the only pair that fit.

Menswear

Shirt: Target. Tie: Gordmans. Skirt: Old Navy.

I'm not sure how I feel about wearing mens clothes. I feel weird in collared shirts...I always have.
I'll have to try something else when it comes to menswear.

Speaking of men... here's a little boy in my life.
I'm trying to get hm to eat more solid foods, but its rather difficult. He eats some baby food and still nurses, but when it comes to solid foods we're struggling here.
He'll pick up graham crackers and french fries (I know...awful mom - whatever), but I can't get the kid to pick up anything else.
He won't pick up deli meat or cheese, or bread.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Or is he just not ready?
Oh, the things mothers (and babies) have to learn...
it goes on and on.

New do

The above picture is one I took myself, but I had my husband take more when he came home, just so all of it could be seen. I wanted to do something different...more exciting, but my 9 month old was crying at my feet, so I thought what can I do thats fast, simple, but new?
I haven't been wearing my hair up much just because its on the shorter end...some of it can't go up and stay up. I also had my bands go more to the side rather than straight down. But the real new thing was these headbands.
I don't usually wear these type of head bands - the ones that go all the way around (I'm not explaining this very well...so I hope you know what I mean) - because they always seem to slip off and I get annoyed. But these work - I got the no slip ones this time! I like them too - bright and fun! I am sure I could wear more than 2 at a time as well... they come in many fun colors!

Copy cat

For the challenge today we were supposed to find some inspiration from a blog, a magazine, wherever and recreate it. Kendi inspires me with her clothes - seriously, the girls knows how to put an outfit together! Ever since I saw this shirt I've had a thing for elephants. I actually went to get this exact shirt at Target when I first came across this outfit, but it didn't fit right...so I didn't purchase it.
However, I did purchase something else with elephants on it. So, its not the exact same outfit...not even close, but her outfit did inspire me to where elephants, so I believe it counts.

And heres a close up of the elephants:
Earrings: My sisters. Dress: Francesca's Collections. Wedges: Target.

I love this dress. Elephants are just so cute. I'm looking forward to wearing it different ways - maybe over jeans, or leggings with a cardigan and boots. We shall see.

Thanks for the inspiration, Kendi!

Neutral + a pop of color.

Headband: Charming Charlie. Necklace worn as bracelet: Ten Thousand Villages. Top: Kohls. Leggings: Walmart. Shoes: My moms.

I wish I'd done this outfit differently. It looked better in my head, but oh well.
I like ruffles, but I think this just needs to be styled differently. With jeans and a cardigan maybe.
I will try a neutral with a pop another time.

Again: Excuse my eyes being practically closed. Its been bright and hot here lately!

Jeans and a tee

Tee and wedges: Target. Necklace: Charming Charlie. Jeans: Express.

Its super hot out and bright. Not the best pics, but whatever.
Not sure if I am participating in the challenge tomorrow -- gotta busy weekend with one of my best friends from college! Hooray!

A dress

Maxi dress: Charming Charlie. (Remix) top: Kohls. Black top: Alco. Sandals: Halmark.

I'm not sure how I feel about this outfit. I like the dress and the black top, but I imagined it looking a bit different with my remixing top. Its not horrible... it works but its not something I'd wear again.
I do like the colors though. Black, white, and pink. I think they go nicely together.

As for my shoes. Who knew Halmark had such great things? Seriously....they do! Go look, now!
They have fun jewelry, bags, and shoes obviously!

Closet Orphan

Shirt: Alco. Shorts: Old Navy. Sandals: Payless.

I bought this shirt in college, but haven't worn it since then. Its a bit tight, but I still like it.
I am not sure how else to wear it. I thought maybe a red cardigan, but then I'd feel like I was dressed for Christmas. Maybe with jeans or a jean skirt.

How would you wear it?

Monochromatic

Under tank: Kohls. Top tank and skirt: Old Navy.

I struggled with this outfit. I wanted to wear a different color, but didn't have another choice, really.
So, I went with pink and I think it turned out okay.
Good thing I didn't have anywhere to go today because I don't have pink shoes.

I did go somewhere today though. I went to this place called CRAZY because my baby is so fussy!!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Dress-up and casual

Husband had to run something to the airport, which meant pictures by the plane, of course!
As you can see my son is happy about this! ;)

Shirt: Target. Under tank: Kolhs. Jeans: Express. Ring: Forever21. Headband: Gift. Shoes: Payless.

That last picture was incase you couldn't tell what my top looked like. I love this top...especially the polka dots. I don't have a ton of fancy clothes, so this is what I went with!

Tomorrow...I won't blog so late! Such a busy, crazy day!
Hope your Monday was well!

Layer Accessories

Magnifying necklace: Modcloth. Hope Charm: Gift. Map of L.A. pendant: Craft show.
All bracelets: Gifts. Shorts and flip flops: Old Navy. Under tank: Forever 21. White boyfriend tee: Target.

Today is the start of the second week of the 21 day challenge and I gotta say I love the idea of layering jewelry. I don't usually do it, but I may just start! Somedays getting dressed seems like a whole lot of work because I want to look and feel good, but sometimes I just want to go simple. Adding jewelry to a rather plain outfit is a way to do that.

I think these may also be some of my favorite pieces when it comes to my accessories. The magnifying necklace is just neat and different. The hope charm just reminds me that hope is something I also have because I have Jesus as my savior. The map of L.A. reminds me of a trip I took after my freshman year of college. Freshman year was a mess to say the least and I took a leap of faith and listened to God when I felt Him telling me to go to L.A. I spent 2 and 1/2 weeks there working with the homeless and it changed me. I honestly believe that trip had a huge affect on the person I am today. And my bracelets, the say love, peace, faith, hope...things I want to have in my life everyday!

Do you have any accessories that are special to you? Do some tell a story? Want to share?
I'll listen!

Unconventional

Tank: Old Navy. Striped tee: Forever 21. Leggings: Walmart. Skirt (scarf): Modcloth. Flip flops: Playless.

Husband took these pictures and I'd say he does way better. Its super hard to take pictures of yourself, so he will be doing it from now on! Now about this outfit...I found a cool way to wear a scarf as a shirt, but sadly this scarf isn't big enough. So, I went for the next best thing - tying it around my waist. Is it the best thing? No, but I definitely love the mixed pattern. If this challenge has taught me anything this far, its that I love to mix patterns! This may happen a lot!

In other news we were headed to the air show today because as some of you may know, my husband loves flying. He rather be up in the air flying than doing anything else. Its something he is so passionate about and is determined that one day he will be a pilot. He's getting close to that dream. I'm so proud of him. That's all I can really say about it for now. But back to the air show... as we were walking to the event sirens started going off - fire trucks, ambulances, and cops started raising towards the airport. We soon found out that one of the plans had nose dived and the pilot lost his life. Even as I write it I feel like crying... such a tragedy and my heart goes out to his family. I cannot imagine... I'll be praying for them and if you feel led, maybe you'd join me?

God, be with the family of the pilot. Draw close to them and help them with their grief. This is hard, so very hard... so just be there. Thats all I know to ask.

Belt it

Striped tee: Target. Tank: Delias, Shorts: Express. Belt: Came with another outfit (Kohls). Flip flops: Payless.

For some reasons todays challenge was hard to do. No clue why... its just a belt, right?
Nothing was looking good with a belt and I was having those moments of, "I look bad because I have a little bit of a baby belly" left. I'm working on it though - crunches and all that fun stuff. I really despise exercising, but I need to get over my laziness and do something to change, so tomorrow morning husband and I are going for a run. I pray I can make it through - last time just didn't work...I sorta have trouble breathing when I run. I just need to pace myself better.  Moving on...

I really struggle with my hair. Its naturally curly, but the top layer just won't curl. It may have to do with the fact that I've straightened it for so long, but the bottom layer is still super curly. Usually I put the top part in a pony tail, but today I'm trying to wear it more down and I think I like it.

Any ideas what else I could do with my hair? I get so tired of it and I'd really love to wear it curly more often. Any products you suggest? Thanks a bunches!

Oh, ands its Friday! Hallelujah!

Color blocking

Necklace and bangles: Walmart. Dress as shirt: Charming Charlie. Skirt: Old Navy. Wedges: Target.

I am a fan of this whole color blocking thing. I didn't think I had the clothes for it, but surprise I do!
I also love to wear dresses as tops, so fun! I'd say more, but my almost 9 month old is crying at my feet!

Hope you have a great Thursday! Its getting closer to the weekend! YES!

Mixing patterns

Earrings: No idea. Bracelet: Gift. Striped vest: Kohls. Polka dot top: Francesca's Collection. Under tank: Target. Jeans: Express. Shoes: Can't remember.

Its the 3rd day of the 21 day challenge and the prompt was mixing patterns.
I absolutely love to do this. Even as I was getting dressed I realized how many patterns I have and how many different outfits I can make with those patterns! I think my favorite though, is polka dots and stripes!

What's your favorite thing to mix?
